Get ready for one of the most “pawsome” events of the year! On Saturday, December 7, Animal Defenders St. Maarten is inviting everyone – kids, families, and furry friends to join their annual Lighted Christmas Doggie Walk at Walter Plantz Square starting at 6:00pm.
Who are the Animal Defenders?
Animal Defenders St. Maarten is a group of kind animal lovers who work hard to help cats and dogs on our island. They have about 40 volunteers who do the following:
- Feed stray cats and dogs at over 20 feeding stations.
- Help pets by doing spay and neuter surgeries.
- Give medicine and aftercare to sick animals.
- Teach people how to care for animals.
- Find loving homes through adoptions.
Their big goal is to spread awareness and compassion because, even though animals can’t talk like we do, they can still feel pain and happiness just like us.
Let’s walk, dance & shine with holiday spirit!
This year’s Christmas Doggie Walk will be extra special because it’s happening in the evening, so expect lots of sparkling lights! There will be a local drum band to keep everyone dancing and in the Christmas spirit and the amazing Suppa Kid will be the MC for the night! The walk will go from Walter Plantz Square along the beautiful Boardwalk all the way to Taloula Mango’s.
To participate, just bring a $5 donation per person. There will be cool prizes for “Best Dressed Dog” and the “Best Dressed Dog-and-Owner Duo”. And don’t forget the raffle – you can win some awesome prizes! Raffle tickets are $5 each, or five for $20, and you can buy them before the walk begins.
All children must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. For further information, please contact Jackie Sattler at 1-721-550-5401 or Mercedes De Windt at 1-721-553-3116.
