Happy International Day of Education

Happy International Day of Education

Come Monday, people all over the world will observe International Day of Education, which celebrates the role of education for peace and development.

Did you know that education is a human right, as well as a public good and a public responsibility? Yet in many places, children (and adults) do not have access to education. Without access for all, people are left behind. A lack of education plays a hand in inequality and poverty.

The pandemic, as we all know, has had a negative effect on education, as we have had lots of disruption over the past two years. Before that, our schools were also heavily impacted by the hurricanes of 2017. Kids know, however, that we should all work together where we can, do our very best and stay positive.

The theme for the international day this year is “Changing Course, Transforming Education”, and there is a heavy focus on changing our relationships with each other, with nature, and with technology which is ever-important.
