Top picks at Top Carrot: Juices and Smoothies

We love that restaurants are finally open again, especially the ones offering outdoor seating and healthy options made with the freshest ingredients – and nothing says fresh like colourful, all-natural fresh pressed juices and blended smoothies.

Top Carrot offers 20 delicious combinations, using fruit and veggies in all colours of the rainbow, as well as herbs, ginger, soy milk, nut butters and even Echinacea. Up the protein by adding whey or vegan protein to any drink, or customise them as you wish.

Spoiled for choice, we wondered what the customers’ top picks were. While it all depends on your personal taste, mood and what you’re looking for (a boost of energy or a particular nutrient), three drinks stand out as customer favourites. Seeing as they are sure to please, why not give them a try if you’re feeling indecisive?

Top Carrot’s signature drink, the Lemon Breeze, is by far the most popular drink on the menu. Made with lime and lots and lots of fresh mint, it’s refreshing, zippy and very intense. Blended smooth and served cool, it feels like a healthy – and less fussy – mojito.

The Green Monster and Summer Dream are next in line, both very different. Summer Dream is a tropical fruit smoothie – deliciously thick, made with orange, banana and mango. Green Monster is a favourite amongst the health-conscious crowd looking for light and healthy options, with tart green apple providing a little sweetness to a zesty mix of ginger, celery, parsley and cucumber.

So, how about the “healthiest” in general? It depends on what you’re looking for, says Allison, who prepared our drinks, as well as business owners Peter and Lydia.

Green Monster is perfect for anyone wanting to take in more veggies and keep the carbs/sugar low, whether you’re diabetic, on a specific diet, or simply watching the calories.

Lydia’s top recommendation, the Immune Rocket Booster is a great pick-me-up, especially if you’re starting to feel a bit under the weather – it contains carrot, celery, beet, ginger and Echinacea.

Someone who likes to work out might prefer the Rejuvenate, with banana, apple, dates, and almond. Adding the vegan protein to this drink is a popular option, and practically makes it a meal.

There’s a little something for every taste, and you can always ask for recommendations or create your own concoction. Juices and smoothies are just the tip of the iceberg at Top Carrot. Grab one to go, or stay for a meal and dessert at this vegetarian-friendly restaurant. An eclectic collection of health and wellness products, crystals, jewellery, clothing and other merchandise is also available for purchase.

Located in the Simpson Bay Yacht Club on Welfare Road, Top Carrot is open from 8:00am to 5:00pm, Tuesday through Saturday. See you there!
