Safeguarding the Emilio’s Sport Corner through the UEFA ASSIST program

CUL DE SAC— The  St. Maarten Football Federation (SXMFF) reached out to the UEFA ASSIST program to help protect the Emilio’s Sport Corner from heavy rainfalls.

The artificial turf mini football pitch sits at the bottom of the hill at Emilio Wilson Park and is suceptible to flooding.
The SXMFF came up with a plan to build a wall to divert rain water away from the pitch. They then went to UEFA to secure funds for the project.
UEFA ASSIST program makes funds available to help countries with development of their football program. The funds can be used for different aspects of football, such as; infrastructure, purchasing football materials or educational development of the Member Association.
The Rainforest Estate helped make the project possible by allowing the use of their property for the   wall free of charge.
