MARIGOT—Omarco Robinson won the 2nd edition of the 9.5K Urban Run organised by the Gendarmerie’s sports club (CLSG) in a time of 38:51 on Sunday, adding this event to an already impressive resume.
Robinson showed his superior fortitude on the punishing climb up to the water reservoirs in Concordia when he attacked to distance his rivals.
“I stayed with the leaders until the climb to the reservoirs as I didn’t have the condition to attack before then,” Robinson, who missed his main rival Christopher Zablocki, said afterwards.
Benoit Perrichot was second fastest overall in a time of 39:51in the Senior Men category, with Fabrice Arnaud taking third in 40:29. Arnaud was also first in Veteran Men. Fourth overall went to Jose De Carvalho (40:55) and fifth to Gregoire Pigeon (41:08).
Kasia Ludwig won the Senior Female category in 50:02 with Celine Verdonck second in 1:00:57 and Paola Londono third in 1:12:27.
Veteran Females was won by Cathy Guerrard in 52:38 with Emmanuelle Nadaud second (55:13) and Pascale Tschirhart third (57:46).
Other notable performances came from Kai Piscione (15) winning the Junior category in 48: 23 and Mark Maidwell continues to improve his running, finishing fifth in Veteran Men in 46:59.
The 9.5K Walk was won by Lisa Coquillas in 1:15:34, second went to Muriel Lobel (1:25:51) and third Christelle Bejaoui (1:25:59).
The race started at Marina Fort Louis and finished on Fort Louis where a prize giving was held.
80 participants took part, 64 men and 16 women.
