Rioual boxes for St. Maarten at Caribbean Championship

 President of the St. Maarten National Boxing Federation, Shawn Blair, checks the fit of 15 year old David Rioual before he heads to the Caribbean Boxing Championships in Dominica.

 

PHILIPSBURG—15 year old David Rioual will represent St. Maarten at the 6th Edition of the Caribbean Boxing Championships to be held at the Windsor Park Stadium in Roseau, Dominica starting December 13.


The Championship will feature boxers from the entire Caribbean as well as fighters from the United States, Mexico and Poland.
The preliminaries will start on December 13 with 4 days of competition to follow. The finals are scheduled for December 17.
Rioual will be competing in the 63 kilo division.
“Rioual started boxing when he was nine, “ said proud father and manager Alain. “He had to get braces so stopped boxing. He tried other sports but he loved the boxing. Now he is back and ready to go.”
Win, loose or draw Rioual already has his sights on making his St. Maarten boxing debut
in May at the Battle of the Islands.
17 year old Naylb Leon Reales was also set to represent the Island at the Championship but got called into work so had to cancel.
