13 Carib Swim Team members collect 37 medals in Guadeloupe

GUADELOUPE --Carib Swim Team took part in the Les Abymes Regional Meeting 2 on March 5 to 6. The 13 swimmers collected 37 medals.


The swim meet acted as the last chance qualifier for the CARIFTA games, and although there were no new qualifiers, the children swam very well, with 65 best times of 82 attempts.
Simon Creusot, 11 years, (6 – 11 years), had an amazing meet with five 1st place finishes (50 breast, 50 back, 200 free, 100 free, and 100 back).
In the 11-19 year old girls group, first place finishers included Arianna Lont, 15 years, (1500 free) and Saphir Thomas, 13 years, (200 free, 400 free, and 800 free).
In the 12- 19 year old boys group, first place finishers were Joey Schvartz, 12 years, (200 breast) and Matias Piazza, 14 years, (100 fly).
Other top three finishers were Nikki Grandtner (3 second place finishes), Adaya Bourne (2 second place finishes), Gigi Cai (1 seconds, 2 thirds), Quentin Guyenot (2 third places), and Sacha Tobias (1 third place finish).
Carib Swim Team met many new time standards:
New B times were achieved by Louise Creusot, Sacha Tobias, Simon Creusot, and Quentin Guyenot.
New BB times were achieved by Gigi Cai, Nikki Grandtner, Arianna Lont, Sacha Tobias, and Quentin Guyenot.
Saphir Thomas made a new A time.
New AA times were made by Matias Piazza, Nicolas Piazza (his first), and Joey Schvartz.
Finally, Matias Piazza and Joey Schvartz achieved new AAA times.
Carib Swim Team’s next competitions are the St. Maarten/Martin Scholastic Meets on March 27, and the CARIFTA games on April 16 to 20 in Barbados.
