CAY HILL--Police are investigating a brutal assault on Managing Director of Coca Cola distributor CC1 Ada Iris Delgado on Friday evening by a man who is believed to have been under the influence of some type of illegal substance.

According to information from eye witnesses, the man stabbed Delgado several times landing her in the hospital close to 8:10pm.

The Daily Herald understands the man was hired through an employment agency and worked at the company as a fork lift operator. He is believed to have made sexual advances toward another employee. How and why he subsequently came to attack Delgado is still unclear, but stabbed her in the face, head and body.

Alerted by the screams of Delgado, other employees still on the premises rushed to the scene and restrained the suspect. They took the knife away from him and waited for the police to arrive. The suspect was arrested on the premises.

Delgado is presently at the St. Maarten Medical Center in stable condition. She is conscious and able to communicate with friends and hospital staff. Another employee who witnessed the incident was in shock and was treated by the ambulance personnel on scene.

In an invited comment, CC1’s Senior Human Resources Director Jose del Valle told this newspaper that the company is fully cooperating with authorities in this investigation. “Our focus at this moment is on the health and well being of our employee and all our employees.”
