MARIGOT--A fatal accident involving a scooter and a car in La Savane on Sunday night claimed the lives of two scooter riders.
The Gendarmerie confirmed the deaths of the two victims, but did not elaborate on the cause of the accident.
An unconfirmed witness report indicated a pick-up truck overtook a car travelling in the direction of Marigot, close to the gas station in La Savane, and at the same time the scooter with no lights was descending the hill in the opposite direction and collided head-on with the pick-up truck.
The La Savane accident increased the death toll over the weekend to four following the tragic jet ski accident, where two young St. Martiners died. The La Savane accident is under investigation.
