ANGUILLA—The search is continuing today for two fishermen who were on a boat that capsized after hitting a reef near to Prickly Pear.
The boat, MV Elrado 2, owned by Ed Carty of Sandy Ground, issued a distress call at about 5.35 p.m. on Monday evening. The Anguilla Police Marine Unit and the Fisheries Department as well as local fishermen from Sandy Ground immediately responded to render assistance. They were later joined by the French and Dutch Coast Guards from St Martin and St Maarten as well as a helicopter.
Ed Carty and one of the crew were rescued but the search continued for the two missing persons Sydney Carty of North Hill and Arthur Greenidge of Sandy Ground. The coast guard vessels continued the search until 1.20 a.m. and resumed the search along with the Anguilla police and fisheries at 6.00 a.m.
