Two held for illegal firearm possession

PHILIPSBURG--Two men in their twenties were arrested after an illegal pistol and a plastic bag with marijuana were found during a police search around 8:00pm on Friday.

Police spokesperson Inspector Ricardo Henson said police stopped a heavily tinted White Suzuki Swift, which had no licence plate in the front on Friday evening. The location was not provided. A “very strong” marijuana scent emanated from inside the vehicle. The driver D.D. (24) and passenger H.R. (27) were ordered to exit the vehicle and were searched. Police found a loaded .45 calibre pistol stuck in D’s waist. Both men were arrested on the spot.

Police then searched the vehicle and found the small plastic bag containing a “small amount” of marijuana. The pistol and the drugs were confiscated for further investigations.
