Two armed robberies in Marigot Saturday

MARIGOT--Two armed robberies occurred minutes apart in Concordia and St. James around 5:00pm Saturday, the Gendarmerie disclosed Sunday.

The victims were two small Chinese supermarkets. In each case, a small amount of money, around US $200 to $300, was stolen at gunpoint. No injuries were reported.

The two robbers were armed and wearing black helmets. They were also riding a motorbike, not a scooter as is normally the case.

Commandant Sébastien Manzoni said there was little to go on at the moment, except for the colour of the motorbike. He said it could be a new gang at work responsible for both robberies. Detectives are investigating the incidents.
