The STUCO water-distribution tank in Lodi.
ST. EUSTATIUS--St. Eustatius Utility Company STUCO announced that from Monday evening at 8:00 water rationing went into effect until further notice. Head of Water Distribution Rueben Lopes said that drinking water is being rationed because the storage tank is being depleted.
“We have been monitoring the tank since the last time we rationed water and it [the water level in the tank – Ed.] has been gradually decreasing. Now the tank is on the brink of being depleted, so we are going to build up the level again,” Lopes said.
The utility company previously also enacted water rationing, due to multiple issues related to moving the main water line, water-pressure issues and repairs to broken water lines, which caused the water levels to decrease. The previous water rationing had concluded on Friday, February 15.
Drinking water will be rationed according to the usual time frame, starting today, Tuesday, February 26, until further notice. Water will be available from 5:00am to 8:00am and from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.
