ST.EUSTATIUS--The number of active coronavirus COVID-19 cases in St. Eustatius on Wednesday dropped from eight to three.
The three positive cases are still in isolation. There are currently two COVID-19 test results pending.
Many of the cases associated with the recent outbreak of COVID-19 were medical personnel. The outbreak resulted in a curfew being imposed on the island and many non-essential businesses being ordered to shut their doors.
The curfew was lifted with the 14th Emergency Ordinance, which went into effect on Friday, October 2, and businesses were allowed to reopen with a limit on the number of persons allowed inside their establishments. There is also a limit on the number of persons who can gather in a location. Fifteen persons are allowed to gather at a time.
The Statia government is also recommending that persons strictly adhere to social-distancing protocols of at least 1.5 metres, practise good hygiene and continue wearing a face mask in public spaces and when in close contact with persons who are not from the same household.
