SURFACE WINDS: 
Today through Friday midday: Northeasterly to east-northeasterly with a moderate to fresh breeze of 11 to 20 mph.

SYNOPSIS: 

The Atlantic high pressure system will generate mainly moderate winds across the region. A drier atmosphere is moving over the local region and will limit significant precipitation. Nevertheless, low-level moisture moving with the trade winds will account for cloudy periods and passing showers.

Seas are expected to remain moderate during the next few days. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise caution.

STATE OF THE SEA: Moderate         WAVES/SWELLS: 5 to 7 feet

SPECIAL FEATURE: At 10:00 am Hurricane Otto was located about 1440 miles west-southwest of St. Maarten, with maximum sustained winds of 110 mph. Otto is expected to make landfall today along the Costa Rica/Nicaragua coast. This system poses no threat to St. Maarten; however the Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor its progress.

OUTLOOK through Saturday midday: Partly cloudy and breezy with isolated showers possible.
