SYNOPSIS:
The Atlantic high pressure system will continue to dominate the weather pattern across the region. Therefore, precipitation will be restricted and easterly winds will continue during this forecast period.
Seas are expected to remain slight during the next few days.
STATE OF THE SEA: Slight WAVES/SWELLS: up to 4 feet
SPECIAL FEATURE: Disorganized showers and few thunderstorms associated with a tropical wave are located about 1120 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. Environmental conditions are forecast to be marginally conducive for
development during the next few days as this system moves toward the west. The system has a low (20%) chance of formation through 48 hours and a medium (50%) chance through 5 days.
At 11:00am today, the center of Tropical Storm Fiona was located about 742 miles east-northeast of St. Maarten and poses no threat to the island.
The St. Maarten Meteorological Department will continue to monitor the progress of these systems.
