SYNOPSIS:
A relatively dry and stable air mass will continue to restrict precipitation across the region. Meanwhile, a weakened Atlantic high pressure system will maintain light to gentle easterly winds.
Seas are expected to remain slight before deteriorating on Wednesday.
STATE OF THE SEA: Slight WAVES/SWELLS: up to 4 feet
SPECIAL FEATURE: A tropical wave located about 820 miles east of the Lesser Antilles is moving toward the west. Unfavorable atmospheric conditions are expected to inhibit significant development of this system during the next few days, however, it will increase the probability of showers late on Tuesday into Wednesday. The system has a low (20%) chance of formation through 48 hours and a medium (50%) chance through 5 days.
At 11:00 am today, the center of Tropical Depression Fiona was located about 504 miles north northeast of St. Maarten and poses no threat to the island.
The St. Maarten Meteorological Department will continue to monitor the progress of these systems.
