Shooting suspect surrenders to police

PHILIPSBURG--D.H.S. turned himself in to police on Monday morning in connection with a shooting incident that took place on Montevideo Road in Union Farm on Sunday, December 13. Investigating officers learnt on the scene that due to an ongoing feud between neighbours, one of the men had aimed a handgun at the other and attempted to fire shots. The other man, scared for his life, defended himself by going for his rifle and firing shots at his neighbour, starting a gunfight. After committing this act the suspect fled the scene in his vehicle.

The Prosecutor immediately issued a warrant for the suspect’s arrest.The suspect later called the police station and stated that he would turn himself in the next day. He did so and is now in custody pending further investigation.
