COLE BAY--The driver of a scooter suffered what appeared to be a broken leg when his scooter collided head-on into a grey Dodge Dakota pickup truck on Union Road in Cole Bay near Tackling Gas Station on Thursday evening.

According to reports, the driver of the pickup was headed toward A.J.C. Brouwer Road (Cole Bay Hill) and the scooter rider was headed toward Marigot when the accident occurred.

The pickup was about to make a left turn onto a side street before Tackling Gas Station, when the scooter, which apparently did not have any lights, collided head-on with the pickup. The scooter was reported to have been travelling at a high speed at the time and did not have any lights, making it difficult for the pickup driver to see it.

The scooter rider was transported to Louis Constant Fleming Hospital in French St. Martin by private vehicle after the incident, at the request of the injured man.

The driver of the pickup was said to have been shaken up by the incident and worried about the scooter rider’s condition.

Police cordoned off the area of the accident temporarily as they conducted their investigations into the incident last night.
