Rotaract Sunrise Presents Vocational Awards

Philipsburg, Sint Maarten- February 8th, 2016On Saturday February 6, 2015 the Rotaract Club of St. Maarten Sunrise awarded the Vocational Service Award to three individuals who have exhibited dedication and used their time to give back to the youth and their community. Awarded were Elisia Lake for her never-ending contributions to the St. Maarten community and her hard work in community service and professional development; Paul Bell for his dedication to his Island Hoops foundation where he works with and mentors young boys in the sport of basketball, as well as his "Shoot Hoops, Not Guns" initiative; and Darren Wilson for his partnering on an "I Am King" initiative that motivates young men to develop beyond just being a mere man and develop the mental attitude of kings. The club would like to wish the awardees much success in their future projects and encourage them to continue to Be a Gift to The World by giving back to their community.         

 Rotaract club, a Rotary club partner, is a non-profit organization and community service club, for individuals between 18 and 30 years old.  The Rotaract Club also provides unique opportunities for individuals to develop themselves professionally and network with different people around the world, through workshops, guest speakers and international service projects. Our motto is “Fellowship through Service”, meaning we also take time out to get to know each other better and reflect on all we did, what we are doing and what we are about to do for our community.
