SURFACE WINDS:

This afternoon through Saturday midday: East to Northeast with a moderate to fresh breeze of 12 to 20 miles per hour with occasional higher gusts.

SYNOPSIS:

Shallow patches of low level clouds drifting with the moderate trade winds may account for brief showers today. A Slight decrease in Saharan dust concentration is expected for the next couple of days.  

Sea conditions are expected to remain slight to moderate for the next few days.

STATE OF THE SEA: Slight to Moderate        WAVES/SWELLS: 4 to 6 feet

SPECIAL FEATURE: At 11am, Hurricane Beryl was located near latitude 10.7 North, longitude 46.5 West or about 1220 miles southeast of St. Maarten. Beryl is moving toward the west near 15 mph. Maximum sustained winds have increased to 80 mph with higher gusts. Hurricane Beryl is forecast to remain a hurricane as it approaches the Lesser Antilles late Sunday or Monday. Weakening is expected after it crosses the island chain. The public should monitor the progress of Beryl as it continues to move westward.  MDS will continue to monitor this system closely and keep the public updated.
