PHILIPSBURG--Police are investigating numerous reports of ill-treatment and threats that took place over the Christmas holiday weekend.
One incident took place on Goldfinch Road in Pointe Blanche on December 26, where a man injured another man by hitting him on his head with an iron rod. The incident was between the former and present boyfriend of a woman living at the home in Pointe Blanche. The situation got out of hand and police were called immediately to assist. The man who used the rod to hit the other man fled the scene before police arrived.
A 67-year-old man struck his girlfriend in her face during a heated discussion at a residence on Ark Shell Road in Guana Bay on the same day. After examination, the woman had a swollen right jaw and a hematoma under her right eye. The situation escalated when two male friends visiting the female victim attacked the suspect. The two visiting friends managed to hold the suspect until the arrival of the police, who arrested him on the spot. The suspect was taken to the police station for further investigation.
