Police nab Caribbean Gems robber

PHILIPSBURG--At 2:37pm on Monday, a man dressed in black wearing a cap, walked into Jewelry store Caribbean Gems and pointed his firearm at the workers demanding that they hand over their merchandise.

One of the sales persons closest to the entrance was in shock and told the robber to take whatever he wanted. The man jumped over the counter and took a handful of chains and placed them in his backpack.

He left the store walking and headed into the alley located next to the store. Police were alerted and officers started searching the Philipsburg area for the suspect.
Thanks to a number of witnesses, police were able to spot the suspect’s location near Windward Islands Bank wearing a different set off clothes with a backpack. The man was arrested and taken into custody. Police did find the chains on the suspect.

Police Forensic officers were seen at the store investigating. The business stayed open throughout the day. No injuries were reported during the incident.
