Police arrest jewel robber

PHILIPSBURG--Police arrested a man fitting the description of a suspect who stole merchandise from Gold Star Jewellery on Thursday around 1:30pm.


According to Police, the Central Dispatch received a call about an armed robbery that took place at Gold Star Jewellery. The bike patrol was immediately informed and at the venue they were told that a lone gunman entered the establishment and threatened the owner, demanding gold and money.page3b078
After he committed the crime, he fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and jewellery. One of the officers saw a man who fit the description of the suspect, who at the time was accompanied by another man.
The policeman found the man behaving quite suspicious. He asked for assistance from the bike patrols. The main suspect and the man he was walking with were both arrested and brought to the Police Station.
They will remain in Police custody for further investigation.
