Police arrest concert-goers walking with illegal drugs

PHILIPSBURG--It is still a crime to attend a concert with illegal drugs as Police announced that they arrested a total of 12 persons this past weekend trying to enter the Carnival Village with drugs.


Police Spokesman Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said on Sunday, “12 persons were arrested by police at the security check point at the entrance of the Festival Village for the possession of illegal drugs on Friday and early Saturday morning. The drugs in question were marijuana, cocaine and XTC-pills. All suspects were taken to the Philipsburg Police Station and brought before the Acting Prosecutor.
Ten of these suspects were given a fine, one was put into custody for further investigation and one has to do 30 hours of community service. The total amount that was paid in fines for the conditional dismissal is US. $2,746.-. After paying the fine the suspects were released.
The Police Department is again warning the entire community that all persons entering the Carnival Village to attend any of the shows will be searched and if caught with any illegal drugs or weapons or any other illegal items, they will be arrested.
