Paid parking missed

The parking lot at Clem Labega Square is no longer a paid lot. The automated entrance and exit booms were damaged by Hurricane Irma in September 2017 and no effort has been made to repair or replace the system. This now free parking lot means the cash-strapped government is losing a significant amount of money daily. Some vehicles are parked in the lot overnight or throughout the day. The lot was popular with residents and tourists who went into Philipsburg for sightseeing and quick errands and were willing to pay the rate of US $2 for the first hour and US $1 for each hour after.
