MPs to continue talk on new hospital today

PHILIPSBURG--Members of Parliament (MPs) will continue their discussions on the new St. Maarten General Hospital in a public plenary session today, Thursday, at 2:00pm.

When the meeting was adjourned on March 4, former Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labour VSA Emil Lee was in Parliament. Lee has since been dismissed by Parliament via a motion of no-confidence, and has since made his position available and demitted office. A new VSA minister has not yet been appointed. Acting Minister of VSA Prime Minister Leona Romeo-Marlin is expected to be in Parliament for today’s meeting.

The agenda point is clarification on the financial situation with contractors, and the feasibility and sustainability of the project of the St. Maarten General Hospital.

The meeting was requested by National Alliance MPs Silveria Jacobs, Ardwell Irion, Egbert Jurendy Doran, Christophe Emmanuel, William Marlin and United St. Maarten Party MPs Frans Richardson and Rolando Brison.

The public can follow the session in person at the House of Parliament located across from the Courthouse in Philipsburg.

The session will be carried live on St. Maarten Cable TV Channel 115, 107.9FM, 98.1FM,
