MPs to continue discussions on finances and labour today

PHILIPSBURG-- Members of Parliament (MPs) are scheduled to have the continuation of two Central Committee meetings today, Thursday, on the topics of the country’s finances and amendments to the Civil Code related to employment contracts.The first sitting will be with Finance Minister Richard Gibson Sr. starting at 10:00am in Parliament House will deal with the half-year financial report on the 2017 Budget and the country’s finances in general. The meeting was requested by MP Ardwell Irion, Rodolphe Samuel, and George Pantophlet.

  In the afternoon, Labour Minister Emil Lee will be in Parliament to discuss the draft National Ordinance amending the Civil Code and other national regulations relating to the replacement of Seventh Title A of Book 7A by a new Title 10 of Book 7 Regulatory Arrangements for Employment Contracts. The meeting with Lee will start in Parliament House 2:00pm.

  Both public sessions will also be live on St. Maarten Cable TV Channel 120, Pearl Radio FM 98.1, www.pearlfmradio.sx and www.sxmparliament.org.
