Minister Wuite to inspect schools

PHILIPSBURG--Education Minister Jorien Wuite said she will be visiting Marie Genevieve de Weever School, Leonald Connor School and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School in the next few days, to inspect works done related to fencing. These schools were identified as needing urgent help in securing their perimeters.

“Most of the work has been completed and is expected to be finalised within the next week,” Wuite said during the Council of Ministers press briefing on Wednesday. “I will continue to emphasise that safety and security of our students and teaching staff are a priority.

“I also realise that there are many more things to be restored at these and other schools on the island. In addition to these small repairs we are still in consultation with the respective school boards and progress is being made to start the critical repairs to the selected schools with money made available via the insurance disbursement.”
