MHF launches Mental Health Support line 311

~Persons with questions about their mental health or that of a loved one can call 311~

CAY HILL--The Mental Health Foundation (MHF) opened a new Mental Health Support line on Monday, April 6.

In a press release MHF said, “The Mental Health Foundation understands that many persons are confronted with elevated stress levels during this global COVID-19 pandemic. The consequences of this pandemic can take a toll on our mental health.”

The World Health Organization (WHO) established that mental health is a human right, and services should always be available near and within the community.

MHF said it supports the WHOs stance and has therefore, opened the support line. “Since COVID-19 is preventing access to our regular care services, the foundation has decided to become more accessible through a support line,” said the foundation.

Calls placed via the new number will be answered by MHF professionals between 8:00am and 5:00pm every day. These calls will be treated as confidential.

“Do not hesitate to call us. All of your questions are taken seriously. If it worries you, then it is important to you, and it is important to us,” said the foundation.

MHF is also available on Facebook, Mental Health Foundation St. Maarten or by phone,

General number 721-542-1677, admissions 721-520-8422 and for emergencies 721-520-5556.
