Man arrested for gun and drug possession

The gun and drugs found under the suspect’s vehicle in Cay Bay on Tuesday evening. The man is currently in police custody.

PHILIPSBURG--A police patrol carrying out a routine control in Cay Bay at 10:30pm Tuesday saw three men standing in front of a bar. One of the men started behaving quite suspiciously when he realised that the police patrol was in the area.

Police reported on Wednesday that the man became increasingly suspicious by pulling and tugging at something hidden under his shirt at his waist. The investigating officers decided to approach the suspect to discuss his suspicious behaviour. The suspect could not give the officers an acceptable explanation for his behaviour.

“During the further investigation, officers found a loaded handgun and several small plastic bags, each containing a small amount of marijuana and cocaine. The firearm and drugs were confiscated for further investigation. The suspect was arrested on the spot and taken the Philipsburg police headquarters where he remains for further investigation,” according to the police.
