MAHO--The Maho Group, owners and operators of Sonesta St. Maarten Resorts, signed an agreement on October 16 with China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) Dutch Caribbean, a subsidiary of the large Chinese-owned company that specialises in energy and renewable energy projects around the world, to rebuild their eco-friendly solar power farm.
CMEC, which offers services that include design, supply, construction, installing, financing and more, will supply and implement the most advanced photovoltaic panels available in the market. The new panels will increase the generating capacity by approximately 15 per cent with the same number of panels, with a potential to generate a maximum of 1.15 megawatts of power.

Commencing in June 2019, the improved solar energy farm will be a testament to The Maho Group’s continued commitment to reducing its properties’ negative impact on the environment and carbon footprint.
In addition to the eco-friendly TCK and LVKE building materials and new thermal-insulating sliding doors used in the reconstruction, Sonesta Maho Beach Resort, Casino & Spa and Sonesta Ocean Point Resort will be two of the most energy-efficient resorts in the Caribbean.
