The evening, themed “Soaring in Spite of the Odds”, featured many performances, including one by the graduates, as well as speeches and presentations to mark the special occasion.

The opening prayer was said by Elder Rodney Vlijtig. Van Rij addressed the audience and the graduates, whom he congratulated for a job well done.

Keynote speaker Rojay Lopes gave an inspiring speech to the graduates and Principal David-Duggins congratulated them for all the hard work they had put in to reach this point. She said this year had brought many unexpected challenges with the coronavirus lockdown and distance learning, but the pupils had persevered and were now rewarded with their diplomas.

The graduates, including valedictorian Habiba Berkel, will be leaving the SDA School to further their educational journey at Gwendoline van Putten Secondary School in the new school year.
