Lions Club donates coats, shawls and hats for students in Holland

PHILIPSBURG--Lions Club President Carmen Lake-Reyes, first Vice-President Oralie Boirard and club member Jennifer Johnson presented two suitcases of used winter coats, shawls and hats to St. Maarten’s Deputy Minister Plenipotentiary Michael Somersall to be donated to some of the students from St. Maarten studying in the Netherlands.

The Ministry will see that these winter items are handed over to the students on behalf of the club. These items were among the suitcases which were presented to the club by St. Maarten-based Copa Airlines in September. The club president and members said on Monday that students studying abroad are on tight budgets and they believed these items could help keep some students warm this winter.

The Lions Club thanked Copa Airlines for its contribution to the club. The club also thanked Air France and the Ministry Plenipotentiary for assisting it with the project.
