Musical tradition.
WILLEMSTAD--Curaçao’s “Siman di Kaha di Orgel” 2025 was officially opened Monday at Riffort Village in Otrobanda from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. It marked the beginning of a week of activities focussed on traditional organ music from the island, organised by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports OWCS.
During the event more than 10 organs were presented and the student choir of St. Antonius primary school performed.
Adults and young people also gave cultural and dance shows. Two prominent musical ambassadors, Erwin “Winchi” Marta and Julio “Jul” Reigina, were recognised for their contribution to preserving the national musical heritage.
Visitors had the opportunity to enjoy live organ playing, singing, dancing and discovering this rich musical tradition. The programme included presentations of various organs, vocal performances by Thallysa Jano and Dibo Doran, dance and interactive discussions with musical pioneers.
The “Siman di Kaha di Orgel” runs until Sunday, November 23, and offers various activities throughout the week, including demonstrations and performances, with an emphasis on sharing and preserving Curaçao’s cultural heritage.
