Incentive travel

St. Maarten Tourist Bureau greeted delegates of the First International Conference on Disaster Medicine and Hurricane Resiliency with welcome bags filled with island information and products.

The conference, hosted by American University of the Caribbean (AUC) School of Medicine in partnership with Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (HMFP, started on March 8 and continued until March 11. There were some 80 overseas attendees from 13 countries in the Caribbean, North, South and Central America, France and the United Kingdom. The hosting of the conference here shows St. Maarten is an important market for the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) sector, said STB Interim Director May-Ling Chun. “Conferences are very important as they increase destination awareness, increase visitor arrivals, and give the delegates an opportunity to return for a vacation.” In photo: Lisa Noel (STB), Cheryl Schumacher and Hazarie Ramoutar (AUC), Lisa Coffi and Marie-Line Andrew-Carty (STB).
