PHILIPSBURG--Immigration Officer M.B. was arrested on Thursday afternoon in connection with an alleged bribery investigation. The police said in a press release on Friday that the officer in question allegedly accepted a bribe in exchange for an illegal service.
The person who paid the officer filed the complaint and the Immigration officer remains in custody for further investigation.
This came as a shock to many of the officer’s colleagues.
The National Detective agency has taken over the case and will handle the investigation.
