Holy Communion in St. Eustatius

  1. EUSTATIUS--Sacrament of the Eucharist (First Holy Communion) took place at the Roman Catholic Church in St. Eustatius on Sunday.

The 12 children who received their first holy communion were Prince Barack Abdulah, Ta’ssieni Fleming, Ricardo Antonio Tijna Loi, Makeda van Zanten, Daneska Clement, Kevern Busby, Zuw-jayla Suares Sirvania, Xa’hir Cuvalay, Maliq van Putten, Le-shaughn Tearr, Kymani Lindo and Ghislaine De Gannes. The teachers who guided the youngsters through their preparation were Anastacia Kortstanje, Laticia Suares, Selma Silent and Sharday Bennett.

Father Simon Wilson conducted the service, assisted by Brother Ricardo. The children assisted in the service by carrying out various performances throughout the service. Former teacher Brenda van Putten was presented with a plaque during the service, for her dedication to the children.
