Goldfinger Jewelery robbers arrested

MARIGOT--The Gendarmerie disclosed Thursday three suspects have been arrested in connection with the Goldfinger Jewelery store robbery on December 11, 2015.

They were arrested by Gendarmes at their homes on Monday and taken into custody. Questioning of the suspects permitted a fourth accomplice to be identified who was subsequently detained in the evening of Tuesday, January 12.

The four suspects were transferred to Guadeloupe on Wednesday where they are being held in detention pending trial.

On Friday, December 11, at 2:45pm, the suspects approached the Goldfinger store in Marina Royale on four scooters. Two of them were armed with a sledgehammer and an axe.

They proceeded to smash the showcase windows from the outside, one of which collapsed completely, and stole thousands of dollars-worth of luxury watches and jewellery.

While the robbery was in progress and in full view of passers-by two accomplices with firearms kept the public at bay to prevent any intervention.

The investigation was conducted by detectives (Brigade de Recherches).
