Gendarmes recover tools after thwarting robbery attempt

MARIGOT--The Gendarmerie indicated Sunday, it had recovered expensive Hilti brand tools and a stolen vehicle after a patrol passed a shop where a robbery was in progress in the early morning hours of Sunday. Capitaine Olivier Norroy said the robbery took place at 4:00am at the Siapoc store in Rambaud. By coincidence a Gendarmerie patrol was passing and noticed three individuals loading a car with the tools. When they saw the Gendarmes they escaped on foot and abandoned the vehicle.

On Saturday morning at 3:00, a woman was assaulted in Marigot and had US $50 stolen from her person. She was attacked by an individual who cut her throat with a broken beer bottle. The woman was taken to hospital to be treated, but her injury was not serious. Investigations have been opened on both incidents.
