French law: Landlords cannot evict during hurricane season

MARIGOT--Following reports of tenants being evicted by landlords, including a young disabled adult, the Collectivité issued a reminder on the law in this regard where it pertains to hurricane season.

Like the Winter truce in metropolitan France, the hurricane season does not allow landlords to evict their tenants. The Préfectural Order No. 97-526 AD1/1 of May 28, 1997, effectively sets the period of suspension of the execution of rental eviction measures in the department of Guadeloupe, St. Barths and St. Martin, from July 15 to October 30 inclusive.
