PHILIPSBURG--Prime Minister Dr. Luc Mercelina has expressed deep condolences following the passing of former Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication (TEATT) and former Member of Parliament (MP) Romeo Pantophlet on Monday.

Mercelina honoured Pantophlet’s lifelong commitment to public service and his contributions to St. Maarten.

“Mr. Pantophlet was someone who worked quietly but passionately to make a difference in the lives of those around him. His loss is felt across the entire community. He was a great man for our country,” the Prime Minister said in a press release on Monday

Pantophlet served in various positions during his career. “We say goodbye to a man who lived with purpose and gave of himself freely. May his soul rest peacefully, and may his loved ones find strength and comfort in the memories they hold dear,” Mercelina added.

He also extended his condolences to the National Alliance and, on behalf of the Government and people of St Maarten, offered heartfelt sympathy to all who are mourning Pantophlet’s passing.
