First ‘Tourism Walk for Health’ organised

MARIGOT--To get the high tourist season off on the right foot, St. Martin Tourism Office in collaboration with Avenir Sportif Club organized the first edition of “Tourism Walk for Health” on November 27, 2016.

The month of November was also Caribbean Tourism Month, which, under the aegis of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) allows for the celebration of the island’s primary industry.

Like other island territories, St. Martin also celebrated this international event commemorated every year under the theme “One Sea, One voice, One Caribbean.”

The Tourism Office chose to mark the opening of the tourist season with some sport during the Tourism Walk for Health. The event saw participants, sneakers on, taking part in an early morning hike on Sunday, November 27.

“The team would like to thank the entire population for this relaxing moment which enabled the participants to combine sports and generosity. Thanks to the sale of T-shirts and breakfast, the Tourism Office was able to raise funds which it donated entirety to the Avenir Sportif Club Association, presided over by Patrick Trival, thus rewarding it for its hard work and professionalism,” the Tourism Office concluded in its release.

Another rendezvous in sneakers will be organized shortly.
