MARIGOT--The daily newspaper Ouest-France on Tuesday revealed the identity of the French tourist who died from tiger shark bites in Orient Bay on Thursday, December 10.

She was identified as Pauline Richard (38) from the port city of Caen, the capital of Calvados, a department in Northern France’s Normandy region. She had arrived in St. Martin to embark on a year-long sabbatical, unaware that her life would be cut short so quickly. She was known to be an excellent swimmer and sailor.

According to the newspaper, she was employed as an engineer in charge of assessing industrial risks. She had worked as Director for Energy Efficiency for the company Economie d’Énergie SAS in Paris since 2013. She had also worked in the Netherlands for two years.
