Escapee from Anguilla  arrested in Saint-Martin

MARIGOT--The Royal Anguilla Police Force (RAPF) announced Tuesday that Justin Skerrit Riley, who escaped lawful custody on Tuesday, July 29, had been apprehended following an extensive joint operation between the Royal Anguilla Police Force and authorities in French Saint-Martin, and is presently in the custody of the Gendarmerie.

    Gendarmerie Commandant Lieutenant Colonel Hugues Loyez confirmed Riley’s recapture, expressing satisfaction over the close cooperation between the two police forces that enabled the escapee’s arrest.

    RAPF had been urgently seeking the public’s assistance following the escape last week of Riley (19) of Stoney Ground who was in custody at Princess Alexandra Hospital. Riley escaped at approximately 2:50pm Tuesday, July 29, while receiving medical attention.

    He is wanted in connection with the shooting incident that occurred in the Rock Farm area in the early hours of Tuesday, July 15. He is charged with possession of a firearm, causing grievous bodily harm, attempted murder, trespass with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, possession of ammunition, discharge of a firearm and unlawful assault.
