District councils reduced to four, new members of each nominated

MARIGOT--The Collectivité’s Executive Council on Wednesday revealed the nominated members of what will now be four district councils instead of six, at a plenary session of the Council ahead of the installation of these councils and election of the respective boards due to take place on Friday, August 3, 2018.

The boards of the district councils are elected for five years. The councils, as consultative entities, act as an intermediary between the population, elected officials and the Collectivité aside from managing their own districts.
First Vice-President Valérie Damaseau explained the decision to reduce the number of councils to four was taken due to the recurring difficulties of bringing members together for working meetings and lack of mobilization in reaching the required quota at registration of members.
