Community Councils invited to hurricane prep meeting tomorrow

POND ISLAND Representatives of established community councils and those that are in the process of formation are invited by Prime Minister Leona Romeo-Marlin to a Hurricane Season preparation meeting tomorrow, Thursday, in the Government Administration Building Meeting Room I at 3:00pm.

The objective of the meeting is to raise awareness and start a community-based approach to hurricane preparations by involving residents and community councils early in the process, said Romeo-Marlin on Wednesday.

The Emergency Operation Center (EOC), specifically Emergency Support Function 7, responsible for shelter management, organizing of district/community volunteers and distribution of relief aid after a hurricane strike will present information at the meeting slated to end at 5:00pm.

Romeo-Marlin urges all community council “to take advantage of this opportunity to connect with Government as we prepare for hurricane season.”
