PHILIPSBURG--The Divine Mercy Charismatic Prayer Group of St. Martin of Tours Parish in St. Maarten held its annual For God’s Mercy walk last week as the hurricane season began earlier this month.

The group found that it should not only be prayer during the “National Day of Prayer,” but that God wanted the Christian community to walk for His mercy during the hurricane season.

This 20th annual walk started at Clem Labega Square where President of Parliament Sarah Wescot-Williams and Minister of Education Wycliffe Smith delivered speeches, giving the community words of comfort alongside Parish Priest Father Adam.

Both dignitaries joined in and walked with the community of Christians through Front and Back Streets, while praising God and stopping at various intervals to give Him thanks and praise before the peak of the 2019 hurricane season.
