Christmas cheer at Library market

PHILIPSBURG--Shoppers flocked to Philipsburg Jubilee Library to do some last minute shopping and to stock up some holiday cheer and the spirit of Christmas on Friday during the Library’s Christmas Market.

No fewer than 19 stands filled with artwork, homemade craftwork, jewellery, flower baskets and Christmas cards from St. Maarten’s finest crafters were erected in the Library entrance hall, reading room and lounge area, said market organiser librarian Maryland Powell.

Several organisations also were present at the Christmas Market, such as the Library’s own Readers are Leaders, St. Maarten Museum and Sister Basilia Centre.

Food, snacks, cakes and drinks were on sale as well, while a DJ played Christmas music throughout the event, which started at 2:00pm and was closed off by 7:30pm.

Children’s laughter added to the spirit of Christmas at the Library, especially around the bouncy castle in the courtyard and in the ball pool in the parking lot.
