Checking parade vehicles

The Police Force and St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) have kicked off the annual inspections of trucks and trailers for the upcoming Carnival season.

The first in a series of inspections was held on Saturday, February 23. There are several other inspection dates which have already been posted in the media as well as given directly to all bands and troupe leaders. The first official road event for Carnival 50 is the Causeway Jump-Up on March 16. “We love to have a great time on the road, but safety and security are paramount for us. Our trucks and trailers have a great record of safety because we start early with inspections and apply strict guidelines,” SCDF said.
